EFT can be effective for various purposes, including
personal and self-development, attitude and behaviour development, resolving personal problems, reducing stress, and restoring
life balance. Benefits can be achieved on the first session and big changes can occur over several sessions. This is a very
powerful, safe, holistic treatment to bring about empowerment so you are in the driving seat of your life. EFT involves gently
tapping on the end points of meridians, while focusing on the problem, to settle energy disturbances in the meridians. As
you tap, and the energy settles, the level of emotion will reduce.
It is not important to know anything about meridians, acupuncture points or Chinese Medicine
to successfully use the EFT tapping techniques. Meridians are central to Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has been the
primary form of medicine in China for more than 5000 years. They are pathways in the body, which energy flows along. This
common sense approach draws its power from (1) time-honoured Eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5000 years
and (2) Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920's that everything, including our bodies, is composed of energy.
While tapping on the meridan lines is a major part of the therapy, the effectiveness is in being able to get to
the bottom of the issue together with the empathy and insight of the therapist. I have found that intuition
takes overs and it is so natural the client feels comfortable and safe. Many of my successes have been on issues the
client has had for many years.
What to expect?
The treatment is lead by the client so it proceeds at their pace and does not go where they
are not want to go, until they are ready to go there. The client states what the issue is, however, if there is
any difficulty identifying the issue, then this is the first issue to tap on. The tapping can be done by the therapist on
the client or the client can follow where the therapist taps. I have included a chart of the meridian points we use for
you to see where we tap. Don't worry about learning them as I show you at the time where to tap.
What if the client does
not want to discuss their issue?
No problem. The client only has to state the emotion being felt for
example, only being able to state embarrassment or sadness, are sufficient to work with. What if any reference to the issue
is too upsetting. We can agree on a word that will be substituted for the issue. This is a word of the client's choosing,
for example, Daffodil.
If EFT neutralises emotions, what will the treated client feel?
After using EFT,
you won't forget the incident totally, but may be able to think about it without getting upset or reacting if someone
else mentions a similar issue. This doesn't mean that the client won't feel any emotion, rather that we learn a tool
to neutralise excessive emotion.
It does not get rid of your sense of self preservation. EFT aims at returning the mind, body, and emotions
of an individual to a balanced and harmonious state so that he or she is free from negative emotions.
Where does EFT come from?
EFT was founded by Gary Craig, a Stanford trained engineer, in the 1990's Gary added structure to provide a mechanical
application to TFT (Thought Field Therapy) which was developed by acupuncturist and psychologist Dr Roger Callahan in 1980.
EFT theory believes all emotional upsets are caused by disturbances in the body's energy system.
Do I have to tell the therapist my problem?

Do feelings return after EFT?
Following an EFT session the dispelled feelings rarely return. If they do then this implies that there is
some more work to do than initially thought as there could be more underlying issues. You can still feel angry, fearful
or guilty about other things but if you have used EFT for a specific issue then this feeling will not return. Once you have
released this emotional block it will not come back. You may still retain the memory of the event you were working on but
it will no longer have the emotional charge that it had before.
Often we have more than one emotion that needs
to be cleared and all of these can be addressed separately, often when we start to disperse one emotion then the intensity
of the others can start lessening immediately. Naturally, you are designed to recover from any unpleasant experiences and
thought patterns. This is part of normal growth and development. However, you can be affected by recurring emotions from your
past, and this is one of the key areas where EFT can help. If you would rather not feel this way, EFT is worth a go.
The procedure can be done face-to-face, over the telephone or via Skype.
